Facebook cell phone gossips spread across the Internet Sunday. Denial is what we hear from Facebook. Apple’s iPhone, Android phones and all other Smartphone’s have a great business of rivalry right now. Facebook joining that with 500,000 supporting Facebook people with a cell phone would seem sensible. The Nexus One did not go very far, besides Google’s domination. The Microsoft Kin did not do so hot either. Facebook states it isn’t creating a cell phone though it has looked at Facebook phone options before. Some think the Facebook cell phone would die off fairly quickly since it would not be needed by numerous. Others say that before Facebook attempts to create its own development platform, it needs to make its Facebook app work better on existing Smartphone platforms.
Future of Facebook phone
TechCrunch is where we saw the Facebook phone story first. Michael Arrington wrote that Facebook is doing what Apple does with the iPhone. It is working secretly with a third party manufacturer to develop software for a phone. Arrington said that a rock star developer left the Google Chrome project in June for Facebook and that a Facebook phone operating system was likely what lured him away. He thinks many might be interested in a reasonable cell phone for Facebook. The cell phone would allow users to call their friends’ names instead of their phone numbers.
Just a rumor for Facebook
The Facebook phone could possibly be the latest rumor about the company’s intentions that comes to nothing. Facebook said to CNET that it is more interested in integrating with Smartphone’s instead of making their own. Facebook has its ideas leaked a lot though it just changes them after they’ve been leaked, says CNN. There was never set forth the music service that is intended to compete with MySpace music that was expected to emerge have gossips in 2008. Another competitor idea that never happened was “Facebook Wallet.” Facebook was expected to compete against PayPal. Facebook made an announcement about that earlier this year. It will be working with EBay’s PayPal to create a new service called Facebook Credits.
Facebook cannot compete
John C. Abell at Wired thinks there would be no purpose for a Facebook phone. ”The tail wagging the dog” is what Abell states the idea of a Facebook cell phone is. He writes that Smartphone users won’t pass on the power and versatility of an iPhone or Android handset for the purpose of Facebook immersion with a branded handset. Robert Scobe thinks Facebook really needs to just be working on developing apps. He is from Business Insider. He mentions deficiencies for instance better support for contacts, photos and video. He also talked about Facebook’s platform. He talked about how the platform needs fixing first. Even following the company’s explosive growth, the only advantage the Facebook platform has over others is 500,000 users.
