Othman as United Nations space extraterrestrial ambassador is sci-fi

News the U.N. is poised to appoint an alien ambassador spread like wildfire online Sunday. The Malaysian astrophysicist Mazlan Othman was expected to take the job as the head of the U.N. Office for Outer Space Affairs. Othman said on record that it would only happen if it were in reaction to alien visitors already come. The thought of alien contact is not that absurd thinking about all of the planets outside of the solar system being found more lately. Earth was given a warning about extraterrestrial existence because of all the concerns. This warning originated from Stephen Hawking. Othman e-mailed the British newspaper to set things straight. There will be no ambassador to space.

Why might aliens be able to listen to the U.N.?

The story that Mazlan Othman would be appointed the U.N. alien ambassador “broke” within the Sunday Times and spread like a super bug around the globe. Othman was quoted by the Sunday Times talking about the search for transmission from aliens. Othman said Earth should have a coordinated reaction and the U.N. would be the best organization for the job. The Australian was just one of the newspapers that said Othman might be in Britain in the near future for the Royal Society sponsored conference talking more about extraterrestrial contact.

The quest for extraterrestrial life

In 1992 was when we first knew for sure there was an extra-solar planet, or exoplanet. At least a hundred more exoplanets were found on the Kepler Mission. This was a National Aeronautics and Space Administration space observatory that had been launched in 2009. Stephen Hawking warned Earth although there is probably not any intelligent alien life. Hawking interviewed with the Sunday Times saying humanity should try getting noticed before it tries to watch for more extraterrestrial existence. Aliens might probably be looking for somewhere they can get more resources from. He claims we can all imagine the consequences of this by simply looking within the mirror. “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent existence might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet.”

Extraterrestrial ambassador drops to Earth

The U.N. alien ambassador story was brought down to Earth by Othman herself. The Guardian looked for real facts instead of just going with everyone else. Othman’s speech on alien contact was questioned by the British newspaper. It even called the Royal Society to ask about it. No one there knew anything over it. The U.N. referred all inquiries about the Office for Outer Space Affairs to an unresponsive switchboard in Vienna. Othman told the Guardian the truth after an e-mail sent to her. She said the U.N. alien ambassador story was just a hoax. She wrote “It sounds really cool, however I have to deny it.” Her speech to the Royal Society in the coming week can be about how Earth will deal with a problem that actually exists, a possible collision with near-earth objects.
